Edit: Goal has been reached for this upcoming year! Thanks to everyone who donated and supported the effort. Feel free to continue to contribute though!

Alright, guys. Lend me your ears for a second, yes?

As most of you are aware, our server went down for a little while yesterday (if you weren't there for it, don't worry about it). Thankfully it was backup in a few minutes but we have a theory that was our host sending us a little warning (aren't they just lovely?).

I hate to announce this, especially so close to Christmas, but here is how it is. We're only 350mb away from running out of server space. Our hosts cannot afford to make room for us in our current shared server. Space isn't the only issue here either. VO receives a lot of bandwidth and because of all the bandwidth we're receiving (we're oh-so-popular~), we're hurting the performance of other sites that are in the same server.
As a result, they want Azure to pay 155€ (about $200 USD) per year so they can move us to our own dedicated server.

Naturally, that amount is a lot of money for one person to shell out of his own wallet. Even I don't have that amount right now to spare.

After a lot of discussion and trying our best to resolve this little situations, the staff has decided that our only good option here is to go to the members and request any possible donations you have to offer. This has honestly been our last resort measure. The last thing we wanted to do was to ask this from you guys but this is really our only option.

So spread the word among your VO pals. Go see if any of them would be interested in keeping VO up. Every sum of money, no matter how small, will make a difference in the end. If you would like to send a donation, post in this thread with any questions or comments. If you want to make an anonymous donation, that's okay too.

All donations can be sent via paypal to Azure at naturalistick2@live.com.pt
Don't spam his email though with unrelated business. =)
You can also use the "donate to VO" side bar to donate and help keep us alive.

If the server happens to go down again for whatever reason, feel free to contact the mods through whatever means (email, youtube, MSN). Azure has made time for us to get the word out to you guys, but we don't have tons of it. Try not to let this worry you guys too much though...just let it worry you a bit. With Christmas and New Years coming up we should do our best to be happy joyful little people.

Anything you have to offer would be greatly appreciated by everyone. =)

Thanks, everyone! -Luka

Shouldn't we uh.
Add a donate button to the site?

We might need to resort to having banner ads or something...

I don't think that I'd be able to donate since I have to run all my online transactions through my mother's debit card. I'm planning to close my old bank accounts and switch to a new one with my own card soon, though, so I should be able to help out then. Should be around February? Depends when I can kick my backside into gear and get it done.

@Marii~ Doesn't solve the issue of bandwidth. :c I suggested a button to Azure. Perhaps he'll work on it?

I wouldn't mind banner ads at all, as long as VO stayed functional and didn't have any major problems of never getting back online after going offline for a little.

If I can, I will try to donate to help out, as I've got friends on VO I don't want to stop talking to. And I hope others can spare a little money to help out, but at least those supporting Azure and such is a good form of help as well.

A donate button, yeah. You could always advertise and save up on the rent, too.

What would it take to switch bandwidths? If it's possible, of course. I'm familiar with computers, not servers.

I'd be willing to donate 20 dollars or so.

How do you setup a paypal account?

EDIT: Fuck I need to be 18 to use it.

EDIT2: Wait I can lie can't I?

The bro lounge only covers for a small minority of our traffic. It's not even visible to guests. Much of our current traffic also comes from guests, so destroying the endless cesspool everyone holds dear is not part of the solution, I reckons.

Blow up UTAU help and we'll lose 30% of the traffic flow.

But that was not a serious comment.

Maybe we could make everything invisible to guests?

Errr.. Nevermind...

In any case, it's too bad I can't donate anything... I'd have to rely on my mother, and I doubt she'll help any... orz

That actually could help :3

Of course, getting rid of it is out of the question, but perhaps hide it from guests?

I mean, if I'm not mistaken, we get A LOT of traffic from guests looking for help with UTAU.
