Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character.

The story is told through the perspective of the main character, using a first person narrative. The game uses a traditional text and sprite-based visual novel model with an ADV text box.

Katawa Shoujo contains adult material, and is created using the Ren'Py scripting system. It is under development by an international team of amateur developers, and will be released free of charge under the Creative Commons BY-NC-ND License. It will be released on January 4th 2012.

I really love this game.
I really do.
The artwork is beautiful, and I think it possesses a really unique story line. Not like your average dating sim by any means.

I am really hoping for a Misha path.
Although, Hanako wouldn't be a bad choice either, despite the lack of pink drills.

I started playing it ast week after I was pulling it for a looong time. Tbh, visual novels aren't really my thing (especially since I never get off to just pictures anymore), but it's pretty cute. I liked the story line, at least-it was different from others and pretty touching.

They're got a pretty good variety of girls, but my waifu is totally Hanako, the girl with the burns. HANAKO Y SO MOE? ;w;

Aw yeah can't wait to do her.

I've only gotten as far as meeting that armless girl in the art room.

I've actually been waiting for this game since the Act 1 demo came out 2 years ago and have been following development pretty closely. My favorite girls are Shizune and Emi.

Never had the chance to play it myself, but I did watch a few scenarios on Youtube.

I have to say, it looks fun, and the OST is nice as well. Especially for a VN essentially made on 4chan. .u.

Anyways, hands-down favorites have to be Hanako and Lilly~ The relationship between them is pretty sweet. And they're both kinda hot. .w.

I actually haven't tried the game yet, I've been too lazy to download it. and I started this topic i'm such a hypocrite orz
And it probably has been posted before..but I searched really hard! And if it's that difficult to find, I suppose adding a repost isn't going to kill anyone...or is it? o_o

That's the team's blog... They have an Oekaki as well... Well, Oweeekaki :D weee's such an amazing artist. I've found her works well recieved on Pixiv as well.

Also there is something wrong with your information.

The full game hasn't been released yet, it's being developed by 4LS still :) And it's been in production for almost 4 years now. There are no sex scenes in Act 1, but yes there will be in the full version and yes you can skip them.

The whole game will be released for free, without any cost to you (although this year's April Fool's was pretty convincing to start O.O)

Last year's April Fool's was better D: The "Planned Anime"... I believed that one for a full day actually.
