Just go ahead and post tips for your Engloids. We shall make a mega list of tips!
When using Sweet Ann turning her gender factor up (more male sounding) some of her words come out much clearer! Same for Sonika! Now you post something you have discovered

Though Al is built to do bass notes Al still will have trouble going below E1. If you do have to use an E1 note try increasing his brightness and Dynamics while decreasing his gender ( Only a bit though ). By SleepySheep7

I've found you can't NOT play with dynamics for Prima and Tonio, they NEED this adjusted all the time to sound effective.

Also, I mentioned it before, Sonika is quiet and raspy on the lower notes. But if you can get her to synchroinse with another Vocaloid you can use her for a small vocal effect. I found it was a way of mixing a "heavy metal" like grudy sound into a voice. If you lower the volume of the other Vocaloid, so Sonika's voice is dominant that is. I was writing a song like this, but no. BysomebodyRandom

For Luka blasting DYN and BRI make some words clearer as well. Ducky5

I honestly think a lot of the results you get out of your vocaloid deals with how you mix it into your DAW.

But to those trying for A Capella versions of Vocaloids, or tuning VSQ's I think DYN and PIT (pitch shifter) work well in bringing out a mixture into a dull sound.
Getting a chorus effect where you pitch a second track up a third, fifth, or seventh will make the song exciting as well. By Tempo-P

For Miriam, do not use high notes, as an old vocaloid, going to high could be...... hurtful.

And also, to add drama to the notes, raise gender and velocity.... By - Hitomi-Chan

-Prima is good with long notes, same with Tonio, they hold it together better then most. HOWEVER, short notes are not so hot for them. Tonio seems to handle it better though.
-To hide Sonika's "plucking" sounds you need to loose one tiny bit of the dynamics on the notes its cropping out on, by dipping it down so the very end of the note can't be heard. Just enough to loose the sound.
-Prima, Tonio and Big Al can work without lyrics as well as with... You just know how to use them.
-Prima and Tonio do atmospheric vocals pretty well, if your prepared to put the effort into them.
-Learn how to add words via the dictionary, it will save you time every time you have to spell the word out.
-Also, spell the word how it sounds, not how it spelled. Actually that ones common knowledge stuff as well for syns.

Edit:
-Big-Al drowns out other vocals sometimes... You have to soften his voice. Sonika and Luka cannot out sing him naturally without effort to either dampen his vocals or strengthen theirs.
-If you strengthen Sonika, beware, her accent is strong, she'll stand out from out vocals if your not careful (from my experience... Prima) once you begin to add strength to her voice. And she fluxes, a lot, one note she might be strong, the next faint. And she has one section of the piano roll where she is uber clear.
-Sweet Ann and Big Al are rated generally easier to use then most engloids; but they have accents that are not to everyone's taste and some find them wierd.

Edit:
I find myself using Tonio as the main male vocal a lot over Big Al... I don't know why that is, Big Al is clearer then Tonio and easier to use, but Tonio tends to be the better singer overall and I tend to prefer him because when he sings correctly he can be really impressive. He can easily outsing Big Al... But its trying to get his voice right... By - SomebodyRandom

Don't use Dynamics as a voice booster! It makes most Vocaloids sound like they are shouting and in some cases it'll make speakers crack. Use Brightness and some Equalizer in a music editing program, it sounds much better in the end. Just remember "What can't be fixed in Vocaloid can be fixed in a music editing program."

Another Way to Fix Al E1 problem that I am finding useful is to do a pitch switch. This is where you bring the note up to another note that has better quality/ No Phlegm or throat sound then increase your PBS to how many steps you put the note up. Then on PIT bring it all the way down to the max negative. This will switch the new better sound note with the pitch of your old note but without the phlegm/throaty sound. A big thanks to AyuRox for teaching this to me. By Sleepsheep7

Youtube poster 1; what does the [/] do?

Do Western Vocaloid users have a translated copy of the manual? I know the original manual of Vocaloids are in Japanese so many people will have a tough time reading them... unless obviously you are fluent in Japanese.

I would translate mine, but there are a lot of technical words I'm not familiar with. If someone already did the tough work I may have just lucked out though.

On second thought, the manual support is very minimal, (or maybe I'm just having a tough time understanding the Japanese). So it might only be useful up to a certain point.

Well yes but it is hardly useful. It just points out what each parameter does in music terms. I know the Vocaloid1 manual is for free on the Yamaha vocaloid website.

They have a english manual.

Its rather... Unhelpful.

It just say "this does this" it doesn't tell you how to use anything.

Its manual is a build in help file, you can find it by exploring the "help" section I believe.

Small correction on one of the statement, my mild dyslexica kicked in. "how it sounds, not how its spelt" that should have been.
