How did you discover Vocaloid?

I was browsing through random videos, and found 'Daughter of Evil.' I watched the video and thought it was pretty cool, and I didn't mind the Japanese since I had liked anime since I was a wee one through Naruto and such. About a month later, I found it again and went on to find the rest of the 'Evil' seris and fell in love! <3
This is my classy signature. Be jelly.

I discovered Vocaloid while listening to various versions of Marisa Stole the Precious Thing. I came across a Miku version. Her voice sounded extremely different than what it sounds like today, and I'm guessing that it was made really early. Anyway, I became intrigued, and looked up some more songs.
Thus I became addicted.

It was the end of the school year for the sixth grade, and Tsuno and my other friend came over and we were singing songs, then Tsuno started singing The Weekend Is Coming! By Rin Kagamine, and that was my first song that I heard from Vocaloid, then I got confused with all the vocaloid people, then I realized I was a Len fan girl, and......yeah.

I was talking to a friend and she wouldn't stop about Vocaloid. She kept telling me about the music. I refused to look it up at first. Then I caved in and she gave me a link to "World is Mine" (I know >.>). I liked it and searched up more vids. Second vid I ever watched was "Honey". Then it went uphill from there. I never assumed Teto was a vocaloid and Neru and Haku were vocaloids. I did my research first ;D . Now I'm a bigger fan then her.....I REGRET NOTHING~~~~
Hanami's butt.

How did I discover it? Well, the first I ever heard of vocaloid was when I stumbled upon this video:
I loved the song (still do), but when the creator said they used a vocaloid to make it I just thought, 'Yeah, whatever that is.' It was months before I started actually getting into vocaloid (or even knowing what exactly vocaloid was). I had heard of Miku, but I figured she was just a character from something and she didn't interest me. This probably isn't most peoples first song.

Ah how i discovered it...
Around the time that there was a 2nd vocaloid collaboration with tinier me (i didn't know vocaloid yet) In my high school i had recently been rejected by multiple girls to prom and just felt depressed. I began to explore the random regions of youtube and remember seeing the collaboration ad on a random meme video. Now i had seen Miku before during the first tinier me collaboration but i paid her no heed (how i regret that now) Seeing her a second time i was interested and typed hatsune miku into the youtube searchbar. I ignored the first few videos until i saw this one.
after watching the video and reading the english lyrics i remember crying from happiness and sadness from what i understood and from my depressed state. Ever since then vocaloid songs made me happy and since then i've been a die hard fan. (so far I've gotten 5 people in my school to like them too)
The grand majority of my ipod is filled with vocaloid music too! sorry for the long post but i hold very dear to me.

Hahaha, that's a funny story, actually.
Was half-asleep and brain-addled due to excessive amounts of candy, didn't know what I did back then. Woke up the next day and found my images folder on my laptop infested with pictures of Haku.
It all kinda fell into place after that... I dunno either.
Even I don't know how my brain works.

I used to run an anime club out of my home. Every week I tried to do something interesting for the group and I came up with an idea to do a "concert" with the real live action videos to the groups favorite anime openings and closings. As I was putting it together a friend of mine told me I had to put Miku Hatsune in it. At first I was like there is no freaking way I'm putting that video game fad turned into cosplay fad for kids into this collection. She bugged me for about a week and I finally decided to go you to youtube and check it out. The first video I found was Miku Hatsune's World is Mine that was done at the first Mikupa concert. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with the song but was absolutely facinated with the technology. Next up was a trip to Wikipedia to learn about this vocaloid thing, then a visit back to Youtube. The second trip I found Luka (who is much closer to my age) and her song Just be friends. That was it, I was hooked. It wasn't some kids fad after all, heck Luka looked like she was in her mid 20's (I'm 31) and I didn't feel rediculously silly getting excited over her. Pretty much after that I was hooked.
Since then I've gotten over the age thing with Miku and actually the room this is being typed in has Towels, plushies, fan art of Miku and Luka all throughout it. Tei would die if she saw it LOL! However what has really kept me in the fandom was the discovery of the Vippaloids. They took the best of what I loved about Vocaloid and combined it with the styles of music I love and often messages I'm all about. Declare War on all Vocaloid would have been my anthem as a teen in high school and still is really applicable to my life today.
