How did you discover Vocaloid?

Well, I had seen a lot of Vocaloid videos but I wasn't sure what they were. Then a friend made me watch PoPiPo, which I loved but he had no clue about Vocaloids, and then I watched the Honey PV with Meiko. That's what really got me into Vocaloids. But since PoPiPo popped my "Vocaloid fan cherry" it is a part of my username and still one of my favorite songs

Someone in an old forum posted a thread about Hatsune Miku in like late 2007 and I listened to Miku Miku Ni Shite Ageru and fell in love with it, but then I dismissed vocaloid until a year later when I really started getting into it thanks to songs such as Melt, Alice Human Sacrifice,World is Mine,Cendrillon and many others, amazing songs~

Our choir teacher had us sing part of Pachelbel's canon. I didn't have it on my iPod and the song was stuck in my head, so I looked for it on Youtube. Because I couldn't spell, I ended up stumbling on a minor key version of Pachelbel sung by Miku, Rin and Len. (Still my favorite version of the song.)
I had no clue who/what they were, but saw them in related videos, clicked on them... They were wonderfully esoteric things as well (Japanese choir songs, more Miku remixes of classical songs, Miku singing in rounds, etc) and then I eventually stumbled on "Triple Baka" which made Vocaloid a lot clearer to me.

I've told this story before, but I'll say it here again for the heck of it.
Way back in 2008, I was still hugely into an anime called Code Geass. I would even wake up at four in the morning on Sundays to watch the new episodes as they aired in Japan. Anyway, I was also way into livejournal and all the CG-related things that went along with that. So one of my friends on livejournal posted a short tegaki clip of "Servant of Evil" with Rolo and Nunally. (I've tried looking for it; I can't find it.) I was like, "Whoa, this boy's voice goes pretty high. Interesting song, though."
Then somehow I got on NND (or a site like it; the layout looked different and I didn't have to register to play videos, so I think it was one of those sites that lets you watch NND videos without you logging into NND). I watched a video that looked interesting: some cute blue-haired guy singing "Seikan Hikou". "Wow," I thought to myself, "he's got a nice voice."
And after all of that, I ended up coming across Miku on youtube. I was watching a video of something (unrelated?), and at the beginning of the video was a clip of someone covering "World is Mine." I was intrigued by the song and looked it up based on the few lyrics I heard ("sekai de ichiban ohimesama"). I found out Miku sang the song, so I tried to look up the original because I still thought that this "Vocaloid" thing was only used for covers. OTL After I figured out that people could create original songs with the program and not just covers, I was hooked. I loved the idea of entirely program-created music.
I got into UTAU for similar reasons: once I found out that UTAU had the potential to sound good, I was hooked. I loved the idea of entirely using free programs to create your music. Imagine having to spend nothing but time and create all the music you want, and selling it... It's exciting. 8D

Well I remember that last year I was starting to get bored of Hetalia (I was like frickin' OBSESSED with Hetalia back then). So I remembered how I watched a Vocaloid video in 5th grade, so I looked at a whole bunch of KAITO videos He was the only older male vocaloid I knew... ._. I got bored and nearly gave up looking at Vocaloid videos. I soon found this one video named "All of the Vocaloids" or something like that. I watched it and found this:
I was all like FFFFFF....
So then I proceeded to watch all the Gakupo videos I could find. I loved the songs. So I started watching more Vocaloid videos. I loved those. And here I am. ._. *facepalms at my younger self*
Spoiler
I was all like FFFFFF....

I played a game called Pangya and the English forums were announcing that Japan was having their 2nd Vocaloid x Pangya collaberaton. I didn't like most of the remixes of the game's songs the vocaloids had sung. What got me hooked was Melt when it appeared on the related videos section on youtube.

well, my story is so simple
i don't remember when i discovered vocaloid, but i remember how
i was surfing the internet one day, and suddenly, i clicked in a youtube link, it was a miku song, but i didn't know at that time
i thought that she was a character of an anime, but i didn't have any more clue
but, some days later, i found miku again in another website where it was all explained
i saw one of her PVs, melody, and i was astonished, it was incredible, a digital singer
then i started to investigate more about her, and now i can't stop listening her music
after that moment i discovered that there were more vocaloids, and i listen their music too

I was on one of my internet friend's blog, where she had this song embedded on the sidebar. I got curious and found the song catchy, so I looked around Soundares' channel some more and found I liked it. Ended up having to get my friend to explain what Vocaloid was more fully to me though XD And yeah, nearly 3 years later, here I am!
And I totally couldn't tell if Len was a boy or a girl for a while, cause he looked girl to me in that PV

Most people like Vocaloid almost immediately eh? It took almost two years to get me started.
And oh yeah, I already have a Nico Nico account since mid 2007 (before Vocaloid Boom), because I've been interested in doujin musics long before Vocaloid.
Early 2008, a friend of mine made a thread about Vocaloid as well as showing some videos including Melt, Koi wa Sensou, BRS, etc.. My reaction: cool but not interested.
Mid 2008, back then, I was a Megaten/Persona fan. I found this two Persona2 MADs (not a pun) on Nico Nico... I liked the song and trierd to search the original singer (because I thought Miku was just covering them). Yet fail due to my lack of Nico browsing skill, and eventually gave up searching.
Later after got into Vocaloid, I learned that those song were Miku original song made by PeperonP (They're called Iro no Nai Machi and Akai Hana).
Mid 2009, I found CosMo's Anti Infinite Holic and Ryo's World is Mine. I like the AIH, while not terribly impressed by WIM... Still not interested to search more about Vocaloid.
End 2009, I found a MAD using short version of Utawa Sakura's cover "Dearest" (19's Sound Factory) and really impressed by her. I tried to search the full version, and eventually know that it was originally sung by Miku. I tried to listen other Utawa Sakura's cover (like Ryo's BRS, JimmyThumb's Scene, Doriko's MonochroAct), and decided to jump into Vocaloid and Utattemita fandom.
