Sorry about my crappy project title, if anyone could suggest a better one, that would be wonderful.

Well, Crypton wants to sell Miku in the states, they're making an effort to get her mainstream, and sadly, Powerfx and Zero-g are failing.

This is a project to get ACCURATE INFORMATION about Vocaloid and UTAU out there to the public.

This whole project started with a Michellephan video of Hatsune Miku, and everyone didn't know what it was. So I started this thread and made an information video, and with your help, and even Michellephan's help (she linked to it!), the project managed to be a very big success.

Here is what we are trying to do:

I want you guys to try your best to EDUCATE people about what Vocaloid really is. Not just tell people of Miku's existance, but to give accurate information about Vocaloid to the masses, including information about UTAU and Engloids.

Want to contribute but can't do big work? No problem. The easiest way to help contribute to our goal, and the one thing ALL of us should do, is to simply correct people in YouTube comments if they say incorrect information about Vocaloid or ask what it is (E.G, saying Vocaloid is an anime, etc.). Go to popular Vocaloid videos and arm people with knowledge!

Also, we want to appeal to both geeks and non-geeks alike. Perhaps make separate videos for mainstream audiences and one for anime fans and geeks. The geek targetted one should focus on the technology, the characters, the community, and the history, and focus should be put on the Japanese Vocaloids, while also informing them of the fact that there are high quality English voicebanks, some of them sporting attractive character designs like the Japanese ones. The mainstream audiences targetted ones should focus mainly on Engloids and debunking myths about Miku. The only focus on Miku should be debunking myths and explaining who she is, and should be used as a way to transition to Engloids. Also, a very important thing to note is that we have to play up the fact that Vocaloid is a product of human ingenuity. We have to play up that humans invented Vocaloid, humans write the songs, humans tune the voices, and humans are what make Vocaloid popular. Some people are just scared of robots, so we have to play up that Vocaloids cannot function without humans for those people who are terrified of a robot uprising. XD

You can make your own videos and promote them however you want, but one major "target" we have is "Nyan Cat". Nyan Cat is one of the fastest growing viral videos, and it uses UTAU music, so it's a perfect opportunity sine nobody knows where the heck that catchy song came from. Videos for the "Nyan Cat Project" should include information about UTAU, how it works, what inspired it, and "how Nyan Cat was made". Since not everyone who watches Nyan Cat would be interested in the software, we mainly want to put some emphasis on the fact that THE SONG WAS TAKEN WITHOUT PERMISSION, and that the original musician doesn't get the appreciation he deserves, as well as the fact that they're making money off of Momoko Fujiwara's voice. Here is a video: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=3WMf7Jqj9xY Use the same methods for the Vocaloid video, but on Nyan Cat and be sure to tell them that the song and voice was taken from an obscure Japanese musician and singer without permission initially.

Tell everyone you've informed to inform everyone they know, and we could make Vocaloid mainstream! Not only that, but they'll know FACTS instead of myths like the news articles say. People will know Vocaloid as a revolution in technology, not as a weird Japanese hologram girl.

tl;dr version: We're trying to inform people about Vocaloid.

What can you do to help?

1: Make your own videos! If you can, make your own videos to spread the word and link to yours.
2: If you can't make your own, go to nyan cat or that MMD video I posted and say to view ninjamitsuki's videos on the subjects. Video about MMD coming soon!
3: Keep this thread active. I can't just keep double posting all the time, if you're interested, post and keep this thread alive!
4: Suggest your own ideas for this project. I'm not very creative. If you have ideas to help make this project succeed, don't be shy, feel free to suggest!
5: Spread the word to spread the word. If you get people interested, tell them to tell other people, and get this to spread virally!
6: Put advertisements for this thread in your sig! I'm currently looking for someone to make banners.

Maybe we could make a website. I'm not the best planner, but feel free to suggest your own ideas for this project. I'm more than open to suggestions. ^^

It's a huge effort to spread ACCURATE INFORMATION about Vocaloid to the masses, as well as making Vocaloid and UTAU famous through Toyota, MichellePhan, and Nyan Cat. We have a YouTube partner on our side.

Wonderful, WONDERFUL idea! I saw the Michelle Phan video, and people could definitely use your video to become better educated on what Vocaloid is. I'll spread hte video around~

Wow, I didn't expect to be so well received.

It's also a good idea for you guys to make your own, similar videos. We should also do an UTAU focused one for Nyan Cat. I haven't been into UTAU as long as I have Vocaloid, I still don't know anything about VCV and that kind of stuff, so it might be better if someone else did the UTAU video.

Edit: One of my comments on the makeup video is the highest rated one!

...Well, that didn't last very long.

Now some idiot saying "NO! VOCALOIDS ARE GOING TO BE MAINSTREAM" is the highest rated comment.

It's a GOOD thing that Vocaloid is going to be mainstream. Less people will make fun of you for liking it if its popular, and there will be more Vocaloids since the companies make more money.

Please people, I need help, I'm the only one doing anything! TT_TT

Please don't say that. A lot of us want Vocaloid to be recognized by the general public as at least non-weeaboo material.
It'll take some time for me to make something; I only have weekends as truly free period to be able to accomplish something. I'm still at school and I'll stay here until nighttime. Stupid night classes.
For now, I've seen some people on Youtube saying "Miku is not an anime character, she is a singing synthesizer software" in comments, even without knowing about this small project going on here.

Thanks guys...

We can't give up, though. This isn't even the tip of the iceburg.

I'm sorry to double post, but I want to know:

Should I get started on the Nyan Cat video now?

I won't include anything complicated like VCV and stuff, make it look fun and creative like it truly is. Good comments to post on Nyan Cat to advertise the video would be saying things like "Do you want to know how to download and use the software to create Nyan Cat's song? It's a 100% free software that will make your voice into a synthesizer and people can make your voice sing whatever you want!" and stuff like that.

But I'm going to have trouble promoting one video on the makeup video and one video on Nyan Cat, so I might need someone who would be willing to be the main one in charge of the UTAU side of the project, and I'll be in charge of the Vocaloid side of the project.

Also, I NEED BANNERS FOR THIS PROJECT. Stuff to put in our sigs to promote this project. I suck at making banners and such.

I really love this idea of the program going mainstream but I sympathize with anyone who doesn't want the fame through Michelle Phan. I'll try to help y'all soon.

MichellePhan is probably the single easiest way to do it, though.

I also finished the UTAU video, too:

The thing is, I just checked out Nyan Cat's original video, and it will be a VERY hard task for me to do alone, or even a few people to do alone.

They're millions of immature "Epic win lolz" 13 year olds that will flag just about anything as spam, and with the HUUUUGE amount of comments, it won't be an easy task to get the word out.

I'm currently trying to write up a mini vlog, I'll have it up tonight and I'll spam tumblr with the videos. I really dislike Michelle after the fiasco with circle lenses, and it seems like she's just riding Miku's fame wave. Better exposure would be tech blogs and shows, because they would be more reliable to talk about the program itself.

Well, we'll try lots of things.

What matters is not the methods of exposure, but the fact that it gets exposed in the first place.

My friend posted this video on my Facebook a few days ago and i honestly didn't even really know of Michelle Phan till then. I watched it and of course first noticed the make-up and in my head thought "the f*ck is wrong with her make-up?! That some bad cosplay make-up right there >.>" Im really sorry to any Michelle Phan fans out there im not saying her make-up skills are bad in fact they look amazing but seriously you cant honestly tell me that that looks anything like Miku......the lower eyelid make-up is killing me >.<

Anyways, hopefully when she postes her full video she'll include the info about Miku and Vocaloids.....hopefully.

I honestly could care less about the makeup thing. It's the fact that it's Vocaloid related and getting views at a rapid rate that's driving me to do this. I'd do the same thing if it were about say, knitting!
