Another Question About Vocalistener For both of you

Okay, so it's been revealed that Vocalistener will be a job plug-in for Vocaloid3, and that because many V2 Vocaloids will be compatible with V3, this means we will be able to use it for most of the Vocaloids currently on the market. And that's great news.

However, there is one thing that I'm still puzzled about. English compatibility. There was an article on ITmedia's website about a month back that talked about V3 and Vocalistener. (Here is the article in question) Near the end they seem to be asking Mr. Osamu Oshima of Yamaha's Y2 Project (I say seem because all I have is Google Translate and automatic online translators to go on) about English compatibility. From what automatic translators have told me, he either says they're doing it but they're not sure they'll be on time for the release, or they may consider it in time. I'd rather it be the former, but I have no way to know for sure...

In any case, what I wanted to ask you was do you know anything about an English compatible version of Vocalistener? A version that will conform itself to English input? A version they might be sending you to sell alongside your upcoming V3 products? Because I'm really interested in this thing, and while it might be possible to make it sing English songs using Japanese syllables, I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. And the Vocalistener crew have shown they're at least interested in the possibility of an English ver. by using it to make a song with Luka's English voice bank.

So, is there anything you can tell us about the possibility of an English-compatible Vocalistener? Anything at all? And if you can't, just say that, don't leave me hanging.

Sorry, at the moment I don't know anything more than you do.

Hi Anders! I am someone who most certainly knows less than you or the original poster on vocalistener but i am willing to pull stuff out of my... -I mean speculate a bit if you don't mind. :)

someone elsewhere said that it works like vocashifter in that it pulls out parameters from a recording of living singer and sort of uses that to adjust a vocaloid's output more intricately than a user is normally going to do themselves. if that is the essence of what it does then i don't see how the language would even have much to do with that process. if it does more that is dependant on rules for handling languages; if it has some sort of set of heuristic rules that it applies that are specific to a language's structure and rules somehow then it would of course matter more. yet assuming that what I read about it doing basically what vocashifter does i have seen a dual bank Japanese vocaloid sing completely convincing english and brilliantly mimic a real singer's (Celine Dion's) vocal nuances using that program.

Ah well. Thanks for answering, though.

That's what I figured, too. I'm not that worried, but I'd love for Vocalistener to be in English and make Vocaloid more accessible for English speakers and maybe make Engloids more popular.
