All right, let's get down to business.

d3dx9_xx.dll errors

If you try to open a game and encounter something along the lines of a "d3dx9_xx.dll is not found" error preventing you from playing it, you need to download the latest DirectX end-user runtime program. To do this, go here. Download the program and install it onto your computer.
There are alternate solutions, like looking up and downloading that specific dll file, but that can be hazardous.

Locale
Some games may only launch correctly if your computer is set to the right locale. If not U.S. English, this is usually Japanese. To change your computer's locale, open the Control Panel, then go to Clock, Language, and Region -> Regional and Language Options -> Administrative tab -> Change system locale. It should have a UAC icon, whether you actually have that enabled or not. After selecting the locale, you may be prompted to restart your computer. If you don't do this, of course, it won't work, so go ahead. Then your games should work fine.

Also, if you don't know how to open these files, you'll need an archiving program like WinRAR or 7zip.

This thread is inspired by the DoujinStyle Reclamation Thread. It started as basically an export, but we have since stopped relying on external links almost completely. For those that remain, I take no responsibility if they go down or are corrupted.
Links to the games' sites and English patches will usually be given if possible. Update patches on official sites can usually be found by following the word "ダウンロード" - download. However, most uploads in this thread are already up-to-date.

A few sources are direct links to the games' sites since they provide a download, and these will be given in green.

The games are the .hdi files located in the "TH01-05" rar. The .hdi files are floppy disk images of the original games, and they require a PC98 emulator to open. Two are provided.
I don't know any way to remove save data from these, so if that bothers you, you'll have to deal with it.

Seihou
A sort of "opposite" to Touhou, as implied by its name, the Seihou (western) series focuses less on patterns and more on speedy, reactive grazing. Controls are identical to Touhou. It is set in a futuristic Earth, and stars a robotic maid called VIVIT with enemies who are more in-line with typical shmups, such as fighter jets or mecha. The series is developed by doujin circle Shunsatsu sare do?, which, like Team Shanghai Alice, branched apart from Amusement Makers after its first few games, Shuusou Gyoku and Kioh Gyoku. ZUN also developed the music and some of the graphics for those two games.
Also, for those curious, the games are just named after types of cactus.

Shuusou Gyoku - Untranslated. The first game in the Seihou series. VIVIT is the only playable character. She has three modes, Homing, Spread, and Laser. Gensokyo's pair of heroines appear as the Extra stage bosses, in their early Windows designs.

Kioh Gyoku - Untranslated. The second game in the Seihou series. This game is akin to a Phantasmagoria title, with a "versus" playstyle and numerous playable characters. Yu(u)ka Kazami appears as an unlockable character.

Banshiryuu - Untranslated. The third and currently final game in the Seihou series, with quite a few differences from the others. This game's VIVIT is a different, newer model, and also features a second heroine, Hirano Sakurasaki, a miko with yin-yang orbs (sound familiar?). The point system works by increasing the value of stars (point items) with close-proximity kills. Banshiryuu's creation had no input from ZUN, and as such no Touhou characters appear.

Samidare
Untranslated. Not actually part of the Seihou series, Samidare (Early Summer Rain) is more of a spiritual successor. It was developed by a different group, RebRank, which would go on to make RedRive and RefRain. While mostly similar to a standard danmaku game, Samidare features shields, somewhat de-emphasizing dodging. Lead the humanoid android C22's SMD-24-OX "Samidare" unit through three stages, and its self-aware successor C23's SMD-31-FX "Gesshoku" unit through the extra stage at the will of the M.R.S. The game contains throwbacks to both Touhou and Seihou, especially in the extra stage, with Yuki and Mai as its midbosses and VIVIT and Gates for bosses. Also, the stage 2 boss is basically RX-78-2 Gundam.

Tasogare Sakaba ~Uwabami Breakers~
Untranslated. A quirky Touhou-esque game made by a group including ZUN called "The Drinking Party," using Mountain of Faith's engine. Follow the drunken adventures of Isami Asama through three stages as she attempts to overcome the overwhelming danmaku menus of the Twilight Bar Room. Note that firing in this game works in a manner like the Phantasmagoria titles, in that tapping the button gives the normal rapid fire and holding it charges a multiple homing shot; if tapping Z isn't your cup of tea, holding C works exactly the same, also like PoFV.

Your link lead to a dead end a month or so ago, so I decided to put up a similar link.

Either way I believe Azure's Touhoumon Emerald topic has the most up to date Puppets, Abilities, Moves, etc than the versions we had.

There is a way to make your save data available on the game folder. Shovel told me today that using this method, you can alter the game's save data directory.

NOTE: Your TH12.5 save data and replays are stored separately in your C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\ShanghaiAlice directory. This is a hidden folder that's created every time you start the game, so you need to enable your computer to see hidden files to access/delete your save data/replays (To make hidden files visible, go to the file menu, click Tools>>>Folder Options>>>"View" tab>>>Click "Show hidden files and folders").

Starting with Double Spoiler, data (such as config, scores, and replays) are stored in the user's profile directory. Some people might not want this, and instead want to keep things in the DS directory to keep things portable. Here's a fix: Make a batch file (let's say th125p.bat) in the same directory as th125.exe, with the following contents:

set "APPDATA=%CD%\user"
start th125

Then run th125p.bat, and everything will be stored under a user directory under where th125.exe is, rather than the usual Application Data directory. If you want to keep your progress, then copy/move your Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ShanghaiAlice (for Vista and 7) or Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ShanghaiAlice (for XP) directory to <DS directory>\user\ShanghaiAlice.

If you use the above method, you should also create one for custom.exe, let's call it customp.bat

Of course, you can change "user" to anything. If you need multiple profiles (for example, if more than one person uses the computer to play the game), you can make .bat files for each of them by changing both occurrences of "user" in each to, say, the person's name.

How to make a batch file for Microsoft Windows and other users

A Windows user can still use the above MS-DOS steps if they wish to create a batch file. If, however, you're more comfortable using Microsoft Windows or your operating system, you can use any text editor, such as Notepad or Wordpad, to create your batch files, as long as the file extension ends with .bat. In the below example we use the Windows notepad to create a batch file.

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type: notepad and press enter.
4. Once notepad is open, type the below lines in the file or copy and paste the below lines into notepad.

Touhou Hisoutensoku is an expansion to Touhou Hisouten ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody ~. It is possible to play 12.3 without 10.5 but you'll be restricted to only 5 characters and 2 stories. In order to have the full roster of characters, you need both games. SRW needs to be up to its latest update (1.06) before combining it with 12.3. If you met this requirement then please continue:

1. Install the th123 directory into your SRW game directory (default should be C:\Program Files\Tasofro\th105)

2. Install the update file "th123_update_101.exe" into your th123 directory (When installing, just direct it to C:\Program Files\tasofro\th105 - it will add the th123 extension itself)

3. After updating, go into the th123 directory and look for the configx123.ini file and open it in notepad.

4. In the text file that opens up, look for this at the top of all the text (you can't miss this and this is the important part): [th105path] path=

After path=, enter the directory path where your SRW game directory is located -example- [th105path] path=D:\_installed Games\tasogare\Scarlet Weather Rhapsody After you've done this, save the the file and exit. 5. Start the th123.exe file (the game main startup file) and go into practice mode to ensure that all the characters are showing. If they are, enjoy your Touhou Hisoutensoku!
