Death’s City Inspired by “City in the Sea” by Edgar Allan Poe
In the slums of the graveyard rose one called Death.
He’s the one who drew you to your last breath.
He resides in a city of good and bad.
A lonely place for the violently clad.
Their souls are resting under malnourished ground
Where their decayed bodies are never to be found.
The crumbling buildings leave no one behind
Consumed by guilts and a terrible past
Unrecognizable by the terribly unkind.
Who knows how long they will last?
The dead winds in the sky lead back to the sea
Where the blood of the dead flow absently.
The luminous sun is nowhere in sight
In the city without blessing from the heavenly light.
Yet in the dead sea, a dark glow lays
In a city formerly known as Paradise.
It reaches the surface, a sight well enticed!
It reaches the ground
It does not make a sound
The architecture shines
With a grimly fine
Underneath more than one vine.
Below the sky
Death’s water lay
Blood, tears, and anguish sitting still.
The smell of it can make one ill.
Yet at the top, sitting on a throne,
Death is viewing the sights of home.

The flora touch
I woke up to the serene voices of my people
I look out the window to see the lotus petals
It is a very inviting aroma that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth
It is the bitter taste of blood
The heavenly sun is blinded by darkness
The petals have wilted
My people are dead
I see a little girl from my window
She says she has forseen my future
Her shrill voice sends sharp pains to my ears
I am crying tears of blood
I open my eyes
The little girl is smiling at me
She holds out a bright red rose
"The rose shall bear witness to your demise."
I touch the rose and it turns into a puddle of blood
The little girl disappears and the blood spills
A young man appears in her place
It is my true love
The tender touch of his lips brings me to my knees
The red lily petals are brushing against my face
He smiles at me and I am blessed by his embrace
"Oh, sweet offspring of the damned," I whisper,
"My love for you is poison to my veins
Please bless me with this sweet poison
And lay my eyes to a dark sleep."
It was our final kiss
The dagger is driven into my heart
With a smile and a tear, I close my eyes

The Glass Wall
I was a fallen angel from Heaven.
I met my lover in Hell.
He was a handsome devil that blew me away
We made love and my innocence departed.
I had commited my first sin.
As a result, my womb became human.
Each month passed and I continued to grow.
The sweet sounds of their sentimental heartbeats
Made me love them even more.
I smiled at my lover and he embraced me tight.
Suddenly, my sin turned into a blessing.
Our daughter was born at midnight.
She was bright and fair-skinned with rosy red cheeks.
Our son was born at midnight and five.
He was peaceful and light-skinned with bright orange cheeks.
My lover's expression showed joy and resentment.
That was when our battle began.
One day, I find myself begging for my return to Heaven.
Yet, I want to stay to raise my children.
My lover brings me a ring and I proudly accept.
But he was a crude and compassionate demon at heart.
The courtroom was silent and my children cry for me.
My lover demands custody for himself.
Tempers flare, but the judge has declared,
"Return to Heaven, saved angel, and never come back."
The glass wall falls before me.
My lover and children are on the other side.
I call out to them but they cannot hear me.
The wall is unbreakable, now matter how hard I fight.
My wings then emerge and begin to take flight.
"You leech! Foul bastard! I fell for your charm!"
He looks up and says, "No worries, I will bring them to Hell without harm.”

I remember
I remember my mother.
A lovely lady she was.
I remember tragedy.
Her trip to heaven came quick.
I remember my childhood.
Lonely and isolated.
I remember shutting down.
There was no one to save me.
I remember my own death...
I remember waking up
In a place I've never seen
I remember the light touch
Of what felt like an angel
My loved ones by my bed side.
I was only dead inside.
Their tears of sorrow heal me.
I always want them with me.
I remember my rebirth.
My shell is now broken and
I'm free

Journey through the darkness of my eyes
I open my eyes to the outside.
I am cradled by a smiling woman.
I know who she is.
She is the woman who gave me life.
I close my eyes to the inside.
I open my eyes to the outside.
The woman is dead and my brother and I are crying.
A piece of me is gone.
The woman who gave me life lost her own.
I close my eyes to the inside.
I open my eyes to the outside.
I hear nothing but crude ridicule.
I see nothing but blood and fear.
My wounds are open and nobody hears my cries of pain.
I close my eyes to the inside.
My eyes remain closed.
My mind remains open.
I am projecting various images.
Soon, I am at the top of a pyramid.
I am greeted by a mother cat with her two kittens.
Their presence resonates such a beautiful ray of hope.
I open my eyes to the outside.
My wounds are closed.
The negative imagery appears.
I walk to the bus stop and my presence is recognized by a black cat.
I smile and she leaves, so I am not late.
I have not heard from her since.

Beginning of "Death's Child" about a woman who bears the child of Death himself
Spoiler
"Please step forward, my dear*," commanded the voice of the ruler of death. With a nod, the young lady replied, "Yes, master." She stepped forward and looked into his hazel eyes with her midnight blue eyes. She smiled and clasped her hands together. Another day, and each time she approached him, she felt nervous.
"Good afternoon, Diedrick. What are your demands?" she asked. Diedrick looked straight forward at the view of the village. Nobody seemed to be sickly, which bothered him since he hasn't had a single job in weeks. Looking back at his slave, he sat up on his chair and placed his index finger underneath her chin. "Adela," he began, "You have been acting quite strange for these past weeks. Is something the matter?" Adela bit her lip and did not respond. Diedrick then stood up and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "You can tell me, can't you? I'm sure I shall understand no matter what it is." Turning away, she closed her eyes and replied, "I can't tell you for it is too personal." She gently nudged Diedrick's arm away and headed back inside the castle.
Within seconds, she heard footsteps that became increasingly louder and faster follow her. All of a sudden, she felt something grab her neck and pin her against the cold stone wall. "I'm assuming you don't want to tell me because it has something to do with me." Through her limited oxygen, Adela replied, "This has nothing to do with you." She yelped in pain when the grasp grew tighter and her face turned pale. "Don't lie to me, Adela. You made the promise that you'd tell me EVERYTHING no matter what it was." With her free hand, Adela grabbed Diedrick's hand and placed a golden spherical locket inside. Confused, Diedrick released Adela and examined the locket. "There's something I've been meaning to tell you for these past 4 years I've been with you," she said with a frown. She placed her hand over her reddened neck and sighed.
Diedrick looked at the locket and opened it using the pointed fingernail of his thumb. There was nothing inside besides the engraving of a scythe on the left side. "You gave this to me 3 years ago after I had served you for only a year," Adela began to explain. "After that, you kept asking me what I wanted. I never wanted anything from you, Diedrick. Not even your true love for me can fulfill my needs. All I've wanted these past 4 years was marriage and children. Once you took me away to your castle, I thought you were the one that would help me achieve my future, the one I've had for those 4 years."
Diedrick took at least a minute to take in everything Adela had said. If this was true, how come she never said anything before? It didn't make any sense and was hinting disobedience. His face started to read disgust and disbelief. After shaking his head in disappointment, he turned away and replied, "Until I say so, I don't want you anywhere near me. I have heard enough from you. Better yet, this is the LAST thing I want to hear from you." "Diedrick, please, I was only-" "Nein! That is enough!" Diedrick hissed by the time Adela touched his hand. He immediately left to his room, leaving Adela standing in the middle of the hallway, confused and upset.
By the time nightfall came, Adela was sitting on the balcony and looking up at the bright moon. She always enjoyed the fresh air after being forced to stay inside at all times unless told otherwise. At the same time, she was already used to being ordered around since it has been a while. After 2 years, she started to have secret feelings for Diedrick but never said a word. She kept thinking it would never work out because of their age differences (Adela is 22 and Diedrick is 32). Not to mention she didn't think that he would have the same feelings for a slave. However, she didn't want to give up on hope since she could be stuck with him until the day she dies. That is why she wanted to make the most of her time.
Before she drifted off deeper into her thoughts, Adela heard somebody knock. "Come in," she called out softly but loud enough to be heard. Diedrick walked into the room, and this time, he was without his cloak. This was one of the rare moments when he could be seen without his cloak masking most of his face. "Listen," he said. "I thought about what you said and perhaps you were right all along." He turned his head forward and sat on the edge of Adela's bed. Adela listened but kept her back turned. "After these 4 years we've spent together, I am starting to feel as if I'm treating you horribly." Adela continued to listen without even looking at Diedrick. Then, he proposed something that caught her attention. "Maybe I should let you go."
