Black Rock Shooter Your thoughts on it
Posted 18 August 2011 - 04:14 PM
So we know of the OVA Black Rock Shooter, but I want to know your thoughts about it.
My thoughts are it's interesting and it will make an interesting Psychological anime. I kinda dig the simple life of Mato and her friend, I like to see how it would have progressed and the fight scenes are enough to attract me. Other than that, I just want more from it, I mean come on a song sung By Miku turned to OVA from Huke's Art? Who could not resist that? I wonder if they'll Ever put the Official song as an Opening?
It only had one OVA. And you think there won't be. YOUR DEAD WRONG.
I saw the commercial after watching Usagi Drop tonight. It showed scenes from the OVA then THAT picture came. O_O I screamed.
Read and weep for 2012 is the year of the Black Rock Shooter!

As I said on ANN's forum thread, I expect the anime to be better and less jumbled than the OVA because it's in the noitaminA timeslot. Fingers crossed for this. I've noticed that noitaminA has been getting more sci-fi shows since the failure known as Fractale (I know Jyu-Oh-Sei and Moyashimon were before Fractale, but those were the outliers back then), so this just continues the trend... Sci-fi anime fans, rejoice.

Give the first few eps of this a go and I think you will be pleasantly surprised

I'm actually a little excited for the series, I want to see the BRS universe expanded beyond the pointless stuff from the OVA

It had pretty decent animation, but it was a style that most watchers probably aren't used to, thus why a lot of people thought it was "bad". The "raw" style of animation was definitely a stylistic choice, so there was less emphasis placed on having smooth animation than having energetic and lively movement - most non-sakuga/animation connaisseurs used to watching TV-produced anime probably didn't catch onto this.

I honestly don't think I can really comment much on it, because I didn't like the OVA, but it wasn't really bad (the first episode I mean). Just like the OVA, I have absolutely no clue how the whole Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master thing has anything to do with anything outside of that world. But there were cannons and chains and stuff, so that's cool I guess. But they have some 'splainin' to do within these next seven episodes.
But I'm seriously hoping that it's not really going to be only eight episodes long. I have no clue how any of this is going to tie together, but I guess it's still way early. I mean, I wasn't even really looking for it but apparently it only aired today.
"An eight-episode television anime series of Black Rock Shooter, also produced by Ordet, began airing in Fuji TV's noitaminA slot from February 3, 2012, and will be streamed in eight languages a day after its broadcast."
Says wikipedia. So, yeah.

Sure, they have 19 CG animators in the project, but they better step it up or it will probably be the worst anime this season can offer. On the bright side, the opening was pretty cool and they fixed one of the complains the OVA had, it didn't have the BRS theme with the lyric in it.
