X= z ,kcee, kzee, or see? i always thought something like "xian" sounded like zian or zee en. with the first part really shortened :)

It's hard to express 'x' to non-Chinese speakers...
These websites might be useful:

http://en.wikipedia....ion_of_initials

So, sonika with her existing phonemes actually cannot do proper Chinese, but talented producers can make her sound like Chinese. You have to be a native or really fluent in a certain language to do this, and the result varies with voicebanks and producers. Sometimes missing phonemes don't bring any problem...
Off topic, just for reference, a perfect KAITO mandarin by Teka-P and Shizi-P:

But extra voicebanks never hurt.

On topic, I never expected Tianyi to come with an English bank, but who knows. Remember Shan Xin talked about a 97-page book for recording, a single voicebank by no means will need that much.
And the voice provider's Japanese doen't have any obvious accent, I'm not sure what will happen with the voicebank but it's good news.
He exists, as real as you.

I don't think it will be a Voiceroid since that's like an AHSoftware exclusive...

well they may own "voiceroid" but not text to speech technology in general. Voiceroid is a trademark for a type of text to speech. by "voiceroid" i mean in the more general sense like "'xerox" means copying machine or the output thereof even though there are now hundreds of companies making copiers. That usage is fading now but for decades and decades copying was referred to as "xeroxing" even after more companies came along with different processes than xerox used.

The whole "Sonika can do any language" thign was a fan misreading.

I'm not so much interested in this vocaloid for its vocal since its the type that doesn't interest me, but my Vocaloid interests lust for more information on chinese Vocaloids since their so late to the party. :-}
Youtube poster 1; what does the [/] do?

Youtube poster 2; I'm guessing that it breaks the word in half.

^ This and everything I've heard about the Chinese language makes it sound as if it would be a bit difficult for users to input the lyrics. If there's a way to input phonetics like with the other language Vocaloids, that would probably be easier. I'm really interested in seeing how the Chinese Vocaloid engine works.

I'm praying for X-SAMPA or else I won't be able to use it ;o;
YT Listing and Soundcloud (so that you may assess where I am musically), my vocaloid drawing/redesign thread (So that you can assess where I am, visual-artistically), I'm likely to have not updated either since 12/30/2012 and now you know what to expect from me 8 |

No, it's actually stated in the site http://sonika-vocaloid.com/

"Sonika can sing any word from English and other languages too with a little work."

Just a quick question, how come some people are calling her Luo Tian Yi? Are the other names also like that?

Again, misreading, it just means if you work with her you can extend her capablities beyond that of Enlgish, which applies to pretty much all Vocaloids can do. In other words their stating the obivous.

Seem to recall that was only added because of fan reaction too from the things that were said back in my early VO days.

Not that I really want to discuss this in this particular topic because my interests in the new Vocaloid we have herar.

So "Sonika who?" is really what I thinking right now. ^_^

Cause that's her name?
If you're talking about why there is a space between Tian Yi, there shouldn't be. It's suppose to be together.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we all know that, but no other Vocaloid has that claim. By saying that it means that she can, which is not necessarily true.

They might be putting a space between each character in Chinese, since Tianyi is composed of two characters (天依)

Seven Stone Studio announced a few days ago on its website that its third animation project will be titled “VOCALOID CHINA PROJECT” and posted a teaser design as well where Luo Tianyi is singing vocals and the other characters are playing backing instrumentals. A promotional video is expected to air on May 15 at Shanghai’s Comic Fantasia 03, with the actual animation following subsequently. Seven Stone Studio previously worked on an animation called Kamon and had exhibited at Tokyo International Anime Fair 2012.

To be honest... I don't think animation is a good idea for a new vocalois.
But I will traslate the PV(heard there is one) and introduction as soon as I go back to my computer.

It's a totally new approach, Im honestly curious to see where this will get
