Attention: I really need critique on a particular drawing. I'm entering a contest. I need critique on my submission until 19th February - The sooner, the better.

Things to work on:

Facial symmetry and structure: The eyes look slightly too far back into her head, and her features appear off-centre. It's difficult for me to give exact instructions, flipping the canvas is solid advice. It'll help you see where the problems are. Perhaps try sketching some contour lines around the head so you know where to place the eyes.

Arms: I think I'll call this doll-arm syndrome, I have it too. The arms appear wooden and fixed. Arms even at full stretch are not exactly straight, so try bending it slightly and use some anatomy references to outline the basic muscles.

Body: Is the bow supposed to be at the front? If so, it needs moving round a bit. If not, it might be an idea to put it there, as it does give the illusion of the hips being awkwardly twisted.

Hand: Could be slightly bigger, how it is arched downwards is too extreme. There should be a small lump for the wrist joint and knuckles, but other than that it could do with being straightened out.

Clothes shading: You have shaded it in a manner that looks like hair, unless your character is rocking the Bayonetta-style, I would recommend fleshing out the folds. There is a nice crinkly effect in places, which you might want to keep, but it does need some changes. There are some good fold tutorials out there, take a close look at how the type of clothing you are going for works in terms of physics. (Folds seem hard to remember at first, but it'll begin to stick in your head after a while). If you have any similar jackets, try wearing them and taking a quick reference photo. Some artists try and add crinkles haphazardly all over everything, but this gives the rather odd effect of wearing paper.

Hair: Only thing I am picking out is the highlight on the fringe. It looks a bit smokey, bright streaks give a more hair-like texture.

Final possibilities: You could try thinning the outline, and shading it in a lighter colour for a more professional effect. But this requires a large canvas (5000px/4000px) so this is probably just a thing for the future. You could always add more to the background, but that is, in any picture, a limitless zone for improvement and extra detail. But if you have the time it does add a lot to an illustration.

The contest is a pixiv contest about the Anime "Arcana Famiglia" (...did I spell that right? I hope so.) (link). I admit I don't have much hope, but just trying makes me happy already, to be honest. :D
