Megaupload Shut Down Staff charged over accusations of copyright infrigment

Megaupload was taken down, but they had their servers in the states so I guess it's not too much of a shock. It sucks, but there will be replacements and other file sharing sites.
I feel bad for those that lost things that fell under fair use and were their own property(example homework and whatever else they uploaded to MU). That and the people that actually paid money for a premium account on MU.

and no. it only affects the us. if these companies moved their servers elsewhere. then they would be back up. but not in the us.

The worst part about it is that Megaupload has been taking down copyrighted stuff. It's impossible to find a song by Perfume on there, for instance. They're definitely not facilitating piracy.

yep, but still. the us goverment cant block sites in other countries. if MU wants to go back up. just send them to the uk. but america wont be able to use it still.
and MiG, count me in, might not be american, but i beleive everyone has the right to uncensored internet.

So the government is challenging the world now?

the us goverment has always thought they own everyone. thats why im glad i live in britain. tbh, weve had enough of thewhite house and your congress. and no, like i said. if MU left the states. came to the uk. then the world would have MU again. but the states would still be unable to see it. and woah. after every post i type, your avatar changes

Because a few users of the site they work for are downloading music illegally. smh.

as far as i know, alot of the servers are in the us. im pretty sure only the head offices are in hong kong
and also going in and arresting other people in other countries is an infringment of international law. unless they had new zealands permission.

Yeah, I noticed this too. I wonder if the government is trying to intimidate others with this...
