In recent days, increasing amounts of Vocaloid videos have been disappearing from YouTube because of copyright claims. It it strongly suspected that many of the claims are false.

Japanese fans have been the first to organize a response, the Save Miku campaign. Their site is at http://www18.atwiki....vemiku_english/ .

This deletion campaign is probably specifically aimed at Western users. According to the list of videos that the Japanese group could clearly identify, http://www55.atwiki....u/pages/33.html , the deleters primarily attack translations.

High time we do something from the English-speaking side. At least try and collect the information floating around, and perchance find more.

So now, here is the English site: http://savemiku.wikia.com . (edit: renamed to "Save Miku Overseas" and other languages are welcome! For Japanese, use the main Japanese wiki - a link is available from the main page)

For now it contains a FAQ where the basic information has been collated, links to publications, a VO thread link, and of course links to the Japanese site and videos from there.

I appeal to any uploaders whose videos have been deleted. Please submit specifics to our Wiki, the Japanese one, or both. (You do NOT have to reveal your real name.) We want to find out what music is attacked and under what names. If your account has been deleted, we can't see what videos were attacked - please tell us!

P.S. The Wiki would greatly benefit from help from a bilingual person (English and Japanese). If you are such a person and willing to help, please see the Wiki and/or contact me.

YT=YouTube? Well, for them these are just more copyright-related requests. It happens all the time, you know.

I read in an article that YouTube was aware of this, and they are currently investigating what is going on. (I think but I pretty sure they're aware of it)

Hopefully the wiki will be very helpfull!

x'cept t12111's account wasn't taken down. She took it down on her own accord.

Anywho, I'm also just gonna be keeping watch to update le Filipino community~
One of my uploads was targetted a long time ago, but I guess I was lucky to have saved it via a counter-report.

hishifura, could you post details of the attack on your upload? What was the video and what was the name that the attacker used?

This account was actually taken down by the user's request. Another translator named damesukekun (who's known to be a bother at times) called her out for not giving permission to the original producers, and for redistributing MP3 links to most of the songs. t12111 has a separate account now, but she's still doing non-Vocaloid stuff.

I actually like what damesukekun does on his own account a lot. (No idea about what he told others).

He, at least, is insulated from the current storm because he did everything by the book. I am tempted to ask for his help in understanding the current trouble, but I am totally unsure how to approach him. Culture divide, big time.

(Perhaps I'll write on the "Vocaloid translator forum" that he links to).
