A few people were talking on another thread about having a contest for VO members to see who can create the best song. You can use either Vocaloid OR UTAU.

There will be four divisions: UTAU entries, Vocaloid entries, and mixed/multiple vocaloids/UTAUs, so there will be three winners.

RULES:
1. One entry per person
2. Covers are NOT allowed. The songs must be original. This means no USTs.
3. DO NOT steal. Make your own songs, don't take ones from Nico Nico or YouTube.
4. You may use any Vocaloid or UTAU you wish, and the song can be in any language.
5. Songs must have been created after the date of when this thread was created.

NOTE: The deadline is April 9th. Please have your entries posted here by then.

We also will need judges, so please volunteer if you'd like to be a judge. five judges are needed, and they must not be biased while choosing the winners.

This is just for fun, so no prizes will be given. Maybe I'll make a banner or something for the winners to put in their signature. Good Luck, and I look forward to seeing everyone's entries!

How about we have one Utau and one Vocaloid winner? I wouldn't want one to have an advantage/disadvantage over the other. Just an idea.

Mhm, fixed the OP. By the way, if anyone wants to enter, drop a post here saying so, don't wait until you're done making the song.

...What happens if someone uses both an UTAU and a Vocaloid in an entry?

Hmmm... Even though I'm in the process of making an original song as it is, I don't think I'm going to enter. :I sounds like a good idea though *nods* Maybe next time if there is another one coming up.

Ohai! This is a really nice idea~
Though I have no intention of joining since I use neither Vocaloid or UTAU even though I want to learn how, I'm too much of a derp to learn lol I'll just part my thoughts.

How about 3 categories with different divisions?
- Vocaloid only original
>> solo
>> duet
>> chorus
- UTAU only original
>> solo
>> duet
>> chorus
- Vocaloid + UTAU original
>> duet
>> chorus (2 UTAUs+1 Vocaloid or 2 Vocaloids+1 UTAU... up to the participant)

Though those are just thoughts. The problem would be there would be too few participants in the 'chorus' divisions.

Good luck to the people who will enter though, and I'll look forward to the entries for this! :D

@hoshifura That's what I was thinking, but as you said, there won't be many competitors in each category.

@Nekoshey Hmm... I guess that would be considered Vocaloid. Actually, I'll make just one more category.

@Keishi You can join if you'd like. It wouldn't matter if you already started I guess. We can use all the entries we can get. or you can be a judge.

I'll probably (attempt to) make a song as well, but I've never even used UTAU, so we'll see how that goes. >///< I hope there will be enough entries.

I might be willing to be a judge. I'm not particularly close to anyone on VO in a way that would make me biased and I listen to pretty much every type of music in a ton of languages, so I won't be biased in that way either.

But if you already have people that's fine as well.

Hell, I'll throw my name in. I don't know what my chances of finishing are, but I'll give it a shot! I'll be using UTAU.

Is it okay to discuss what I am planning, and ask for advice from the community? I'm not sure how these things usually work :\

EDIT: Oh! And I will be using multiple UTAUloids, if I go through with the idea I have right now.
YT Listing and Soundcloud (so that you may assess where I am musically), my vocaloid drawing/redesign thread (So that you can assess where I am, visual-artistically), I'm likely to have not updated either since 12/30/2012 and now you know what to expect from me 8 |

Judge? Hmm... Sure, Why not? I'm not very good at being critical at my own work, but I can pick out things in others, I guess.

I'm pretty sure that would be just fine. The reason this contest in happening is because we want to get the community more involved, anyway.

And um... Ant, could we perhaps allow more judges? I see a lot of people are interested, and I don't think two judges would be enough for a fair decision. And it should be an odd number, too. How about 5? Or is that too many?

Yeah, more is always better. 5 sounds like a good number. The two that have applied will be added to the list, as Kit and I for competitors. I'll edit the post now.

And, yes, you may ask for help and seek advice from the community. This is all for fun, anyway.

And if anyone else has suggestions or comments, please do speak up. ;)

I think it would be a good idea to have someone like a producer or something as a judge, someone who knows what they're talking about and can give proper, well thought out analysis. (Ex. If I were to be judge I'd just be like YO THIS SOUNDS NICE/SHITTY)

If you can find one, that would be amazing.

Added Rooxi. Yay, we're getting a lot of participants now. :D
