Castlevania

Casltevania is one of my most favourite game series due to its story and the way it plays. Though the consoles try to get castlevania into the 3D Realm the portable gaming systems keeps the series to 2d with its castleroid gameplay. It will be very interesting to see where the series will go with the next generation of consoles.
But anyway my question for you guys is what is your favourite castlevania game and why?
Mine would have to be Castlevania symphony of the night since it was the 1st castlevania game to feature the castleroid gameplay and I just love the look and feel to the game. Also Alucard is just pretty damn epic and a really good character to play as.

Ah man, LUV Castlevania. Such a fun and awesome music filled series. Can't get enough of the 2D action and even some of the 3D ones too. Nothing wrong with Lament of Lords.
My only beef with Lords is that they didn't use any of the old iconic tunes in anyway shape or form. I thought it was a great game and creative reimagining of the series, but man, why did they not throw in Bloody Tears!?

Nice thread.
Castlevania, is one of my favorite game series.
My favorite game of the series is between Portrait of Ruin, and Lords of Shadow.
Portrait of Ruin mainly a great game for alot side quests with all kinds of extra things to do. I played the game on more than 6 files which is the most you can keep at a time. I've completed Johnothan and Charalotte's story mode 100 percent.
It's for the regular DS, and I highly recommend it!
Lords of Shadow was entirly diffirent for me, from the rest of the series. Mainly because it's more like an rpg with chapters and sections in it, and that the gameplay is entirly diffirent, because you roam around freely unlike the normal side-scrolling Castlevania games.
I've obtained most of the achivement trophies. Completed the story 100 percent.(including Reverie and Ressurrection. I have all upgrades, items, sub-weapons, attack upgrades of all sorts, and I've completed all the trails.
Still haven't beaten all the levels on hard or hardest difficulty.
I haven't played it in a good while though, to be honest.
But I do remember how sinister story was, and how awfully hard the boss, The Forgotten One was. I was on easy difficulty, and it was brutal.
Lords of Shadow is for Playstation 3 and X-Box.
I highly recommend it for the extra stuff it has for you to do, and for people who like very difficult games, as well as a sinister story.
But I do not recommend getting the two add-ons, Reverie or Ressurrection. They are not worth how much you have to pay for them and then get just 3 or 4 chapter sections totally. No. Not worth it. Unless you are huge fan of the series, or something.

I can sort of understand why Lords of Shadow didn't feel like Castlevania, VHDS.
Circle of the Moon was my first Castlevania game I've ever. I forgot to mention that!
Oh! And...
Someone mentioned Symphony of the Night. Is true that you can play as Alucard with him being naked??(serious question)

Lords of Shadow has been heralded as a great game, but many feel it's more of a cross between God of War and Devil May Cry than a "true" Castlevania. Myself included.
I haven't played many of the games, but I'm partial to Order of Ecclesia for whatever reason.
Now, get Esdain in here. He'd have a field day with this thread.

I so want to get back into this series. Played the original SNES Castlevanias and Castlevania 64. I loved 64 for the music and what I believed to be amazing plot and characters at that time. (I was somewhere between 8 and 10 years old.) Also, SKELETONS ON MOTORCYCLES!!
And right now a movie is in the works.

Directed by James Wan, so I hope it goes well. And has amazingly gorey effects... And accents ❤
