Hehe, I decided to make one of these, since I'm finally serious about producing songs out of my butt~

I've been working on a short song for Luka, but I'm in need of good lyrics. The music can be viewed here.

I've thought about doing covers before jumping into making songs, but I can't download much on this computer, in fear of another virus attack. (Once had 1800 viruses. Not fun.)

So, I'll be postin' stuff like lyrics and more of my music here, and of course, my completed songs. I guess you can totally ignore my other thread, because I'm starting anew in this one. I'm asking for the other one to be closed, because I wasn't serious yet enough in that one. Plus its pretty much dead. :\

Okay, yeah, tell me what you think! And pleasee push me to continue this, or I'll totally abandon it forever. :T

I straightly jump into making original song for Vocaloid... but before that I sing (cover) a lot of other people song to understand their structure and common words in a song... (English)

However, now I'm still struggling to compose a song in Japanese.

I see. I'm not the best at singing, so I'll just look through common lyrics~ I have alot of lyrics already, but I usually just post them in a PM to a certain VO member who helps me alot with them. XD I'll post my better ones here, though and get a full opinion from the public~

Double post, but guys. I'm really feeling this idea. Like, really. All night long. Mhm.

Er, okay, so, I've started a MikiXLuka duet, with jazzy-ish music~ Jazz music is really easy to write lyrics for. XD

What I've got so far... Okay:

Lyrics? Getting there. Have the first little bit done.
VSQ? I need the lyrics first...
Miki? Er, no. Waiting until I'm finished the rest before I download the trial.
Off-vocal? Indeed~
Demo of the first little bit? Yup, uploading it now!

The lyrics are in both English and Japanese. English for Luka, Japanese for Miki. Though...I'm not too sure on Miki's lyrics because I only used Kotoba! for them. I hope I can get someone to translate them. (Will give credit, of course.)

"Even though I love you
That is so pure that I am blind
I cannot sleep a wink at night
knowing that you are away

Watashi no aiyou jin
Anata ga suki desu"

^ All I have right now. The bad thing about writing my lyrics right now is that I have a Berryz Koubou song stuck in my head. I mean, I've only listened to it 100 times today, and its my favorite song by that group, and hnnnnng. NOT GOOD. :C

I obviously need help with the tuning and the key. I don't know how to find the key in the off-vocal, so. (BUT GUISE. I KNOW WHAT KEY IS NOW. BE PROUD. Thanks to 'Simple English' version of Wikipedia. <3) And the tuning..hnng, so many words a 12 year old does not understand. DX "Velocity," "Dynamic," "Pitch Bend Sensitivity." WHAT IS THIS, I DON'T EVEN--- So yeah. I'll need someone to help me tune it. Same with Miki's VSQ when I'm done with her half.

And now I have to re-upload my progress file to Soundcloud because my Internet is a jerk and I freaked out at it and that caused me to close a bunch of tabs and open a bunch of random ones. D: Hnnnggg, this is hardddddd....

I'll edit this post with the file, for now though, I will tell you that Soundcloud is now dead to me.

EDIT-- File finally loaded~

The music is a nice jazz. ^_^
Sorry I can't help at the lyric part, that's where I'm struggling too...

Look forward for this to finish.

UPDATE~

As of now, I'm comfortable with the lyrics that I have for Luka, but I hate what I have for Miki. My Japanese 'skills' are certainly not shining. >__>

My only problem is getting Luka to sing them at the right time and..well, the way I want her to sing it. Would it be a good idea to have myself as the background vocals for the Luka parts? Maybe it would be clearer to understand that way...

As of to sing at the right time, are your instrumental tempo the same with your vocaloid track tempo?

To make it sound clearer, you should tweak the parameter to sound as perfect as they can... After that, EQ come to resque... :D

EQ doesn't exist in Vocaloid, you have to use other software to shape your vocal track.

As using your own vocal as the back-up vocal, why not... as long as you know how to sing backup. :D

The instrumental sounds really nicely laid out. A few mixing tweaks should be all that's needed. As for the VOCALOID, I think it's a good idea to write the melody in your DAW and then import the MIDI track into VOCALOID, since the VOCALOID editor itself is kind of annoying to work with. To start out, I would just input the lyrics and not worry too much about tuning at first. Tuning is all about getting a good basic foundation down and then listening for what's wrong so that you can fix it. A good start would be to let VOCALOID handle the vibrato settings for you and set all the notes to have 2%-4% bend depth, 0% bend length, no checkboxes for portamento and accent and decay at 50%. Then, listen to the song and try to fix things you think sound off. That's the hard part and requires a lot of practice to get right, so don't worry about it if it's your first time and it doesn't come out entirely correctly. Basically, if you try to make your first .vsq "perfect", you'll spend all your time on it and never really get anywhere and you'd feel kind of annoyed about it. It's much better to do lots of .vsq files from scratch and learn what every little thing does as opposed to trying to perfect that single first song, since you'll more likely come across different situations and learn from them instead of being stuck in a single mindset. My first .vsq sounded absolutely terrible, by the way. XD;

Thanks guys! Its helping alot~ But, I don't really know if Audacity is a 'DAW' kinda software, so I 'unno how to make the midi. I've heard of Intelliscore, and it looks really easy, but I'm not sure if its safe and/or free.

Before I get to my project again tonight, I'm checking out everything in the Vocaloid program. I need'a find all these p-port..uh, p-porta-- you know what I mean. XD I haven't had a chance to look at every corner of the program, even though I had Luka since Christmas. :U

I forgot I had to set the tempo. XD SUCH A NOOB, THIS GIRL IS. SUCH. A. NOOB.

Tuning it is probably the fun part, from what I seen. I like messing with things~~ So yay! This whole thing has its rewards, I guess. XD

But today, while I was away, I was using the dictionary function on my iPod and found a part of it with chemical compounds. Now I keep writing songs about Radium and freakin' Chlorine. There's things that are terribly wrong in this head, I know. Don't worry.

I being slower than usual with my lyrics, because I'm debating whether to use Miki in it or not. I have something else planned for Miki during the time I have her trial, so maybe I'll just stick with that. Its a Japanese song, so why not. XD;;

...Yeah, thats pretty much it. I'll see if I can muster a progress file if I ever stop roleplaying and focus for once. XD A NOOB WITH THE ATTENTION SPAN OF A THREE YEAR OLD, HELP ME.

EDIT: About to lose all my progress of the last few days because the editor is about to crassshh. Stupid square thingy with the logo thing. Keeps telling me about the darn Vocaloid site, and won't even open the thing. Just kinda sits there making the same face at me, watching me shrivel in pain.

Double post, but my friend sent me a .VSQ of PONPONPON so I decided to make Luka sing it~ We're planning a chorus of Vocaloids to sing it -- Rin, Len, Iroha, Miki, and Luka. Because we do quite enjoy our Vocaloid trials. XD;;

So yeah, here's Luka's bit. We'll probably chop/edit some parts so they aren't all singing at once. But this is Luka's full version, without the instrumental. She sounded so glitchy in the editor, I had to upload it to Soundcloud to see how she sounded through the whole song. XD

Hnng, Soundcloud takes forever to upload things to. ;_;

What vocaloid do you have?
If you have v3 press F3 and adjust the volume of the backing lower.
If you have vocaloid2 then...Err.. There is, I think a windows tab and click on it and there should be EQ or something and adjust the harmony vocals there.

Update.

Uh, I started working on another song earlier this week, and I finshed the lyrics quite quickly, too. I made a video for it and everything. The video isn't of the best quality, though. Movie Maker FTW! \o/ I'm finishing up the off-vocal now, it still needs a bit of tweakin'. But guise, its a creepy-ish song. I love those. I really do. But I'm horrible at writing creepy-ish lyrics. Meehh, it'll work, I guess. I need to find a way to make a *Beep* effect, though. There's one part of the song that needs it. OHMIGAWD, TRUTH-CHAN IS PUTTING SWEAR WORDS INTO A SONG AND BLEEPING THEM?! No. You'll see, you'll see~

Anyway, I'm looking into doing a few one-on-one interviews with Western producers to see how its done. Like, how they made their debut, how they mixed the vocals and music, etc. Anyone willing? Would help alot~

So yeah. The song metioned above is named after a lovely life form that enjoys the dark, and is quite the beautiful lady. Though, once you take a bite, it'll be hard to stop falling over her sweetness~ I guess thats all the teaser you'll be getting, but I'd love to see your answers to it. Oh~ I love suspense~

I don't know of any third-party uploaders, so I'll just stick to the Old-Skool uploader. Yes, neither Internet Explorer nor Chrome will let me use the Flash uploader anymore. ;_;

Here's the progress file I said I would upload! And yes, I know the first little bit, "Even though I" is on different note than my last progress file. Thats 'cause I had a stupid moment, and I deleted the first bit and saved. And now I forget the notes that they were on. But I think it sounds better this way. XD Oh, and you may wanna skip the big silence at the beginning. I forgot to edit that out. I also forgot to amplify/do-whatever-to-make-it-loud. Sorry~
