Need some info on dimensions

Just some questions:

1)What is the maximum size a picture can be for it to not get auto resized?

2)What is the width in pixels of a post?

I'm not sure about the first question, but I can tell you that the width of posts varies wildly depending on the skin someone is using. Some of them are even made to fit however wide the browser is, so it's theoretically undefined.

Images will auto-resize if their original res is big enough to break the layout of the skin you're currently using. The width of the post blocks varies depending on the skin.

I think the shortest skin right now width-wise is All Aboard, so no more than 500px.
