Edit: Oh, here's another question: If I were to buy the software and eventually run out of installations, would there be any way to reset the counter by showing a company proof that I had bought it legitimately? I'm assuming the main reason for this limit is to prevent piracy. I'm guessing I would have to contact Yamaha and beg them like is the case with Apple when you run out of iTunes library authorizations. However, can anyone confirm this? I'm sure by now someone on these forums has reached the max number of installations with their vocaloid 3 software due to hard drive failure or something.
This question is aimed towards people who own the Vocaloid 3 software.
I want to buy a Vocaloid 3 vocaloid eventually, but it would be a serious deal breaker if there were a limited number of installations allowed. I searched in the forums, but I can't find another thread on this. I remember reading somewhere that there was a limited number of installations but I really hope I'm wrong.
I mean if there were like 10 installations allowed then that would be fine, because I doubt I would go through another 10 computers in my life. However, if it's only like 2-4 I would be upset. Can someone please confirm this?
Also, if this is the case, is it possible to "deactivate" a computer like on itunes libraries?
Also, if there are a limit to the number of installations, do the voicebanks have a separate installation counter than the Vocaloid 3 editor?
In my opinion, ALL expensive software should use the USB key route for licenses. I have Reason 6.5 and all you have to do is have the usb key plugged in and you don't have to worry about registration limitations as long as you have the key.

Three is your limit. To reset, contact Yamaha(?) for the V3 editor and whoever made the Vocaloid voice bank. The only exception is Crypton. They've made the process so much easier. You simply create an account, register the product to your account, and you can reset the limit whenever you want. This also applies to any software products purchased through Crypton. No need to contact them.
