Mostly bringing this up since I'm downloading a torrent that is taking forever to download, with a speed of 1.0 kb a second. And it's been two days with flunctuating speeds.
So do you love, hate, or are you neutral towards torrents?

I've only used them once so I'm kind of bias because when I did download the torrent and program it froze my computer even though I only clicked for 5 albums in MikuDB's torrent so I kind of resent them. I prefer direct downloads, it's just so much easier.

I stopped torrenting because the companies tracked me down and my ISP sent me letters.

I'm extremely lucky to live in a place where no one cares about pirating, yay! But still, that must have been scary getting letters like that. That's my biggest nightmare

I'm pretty eh towards them. I've only used them like once, so I don't particularly care if they exist or not.
It does get annoying though when my brother uses them and wrecks the internet speed ~_~

Some are really fast and some are painfully slow ...
nothing irritates me more than hearing someone from the forum saying he got it in two days when It took me three weeks!

^ I recently downloaded 30GB in 2 hours :Shiteyanyo:/>/>

I live in a rather small country (no copyright problems), and on top of that, our internet is lightning fast, likely the fastest in the world (or so I read in an article a few years ago).

Torrents are nice but each user is responsible for making it work. I seed my torrents all the time, even when I don't want to download anything.

They've always been useful but increasingly so for large files, what with speed and size caps everywhere on direct downloading sites.

Waltz a seed or seeding? I have tried to read google articles about it but it's too complex for me.

That's actually the reaction they're going for. The MAFIAA (RIAA and MPAA) are well known for spamming DMCA notices to people who aren't actually doing stuff in hopes they'll 'settle' instead of actually going to court.

The funny thing about a DMCA notice is that it has to be filed by the actual copyright holder, and you can counter-sue if they filed a frivolous one against you. You may want to learn a little more about these things....

I know you're just joking, but I probably could have gotten it faster if there were more seeders. I have fiber (connected with an ethernet cable to the router), and my plan says it goes up to 100mbps. I usually get upwards of 1mbps in any given torrent, and my max was probably 5mbps (memory is blurry here), but I know there are several factors that might reduce its performance + ISPs always overselling. Bandwidth is also unlimited so no problem there. Bear in mind that this plan also includes a ton of TV channels and phone, which I seldom use but, yeah. I'm pretty happy about it.
As for browsing the web, I know in advance that if a website is slow/offline, it's definitely a problem on the server's end, as everything loads lightning fast otherwise (VO for instance).

I'm using torrent downloads very frequently. And I'm really fine with those because most of the direct download providers limiting speed, does not support continous downloads and simultaneous downloading unless you have a premium account. Thats why I rely on torrent mostly. Sadly my internet connection for torrent downloads are limited around 100 to 200 kbps. But if I can find a really popular torrent probably it will be faster, ex: it reached around 500 kbps for once. When I was back in my hometown I saw torrent d/l reached around 1 Mbps and I was really shocked when I saw that.

So yeah, really helpful download tool to me.

Heck I use them like everyday.I like to download large files, stuff in bulks and I'm also a pirate.Unstable yes but it's freaking better than those file sharing site any day which take forever to actually download anything(timeout,no resume, limit etc etc).

Also a quick question but what torrent client are you guys using ? For me it's uTorrent.
