Aw, I was beaten to making this thread. XD Ah well.
Let's see, what games do I have of it...
I started out playing Friends of Mineral as my first game, and it got pretty boring considering I'm not a male and all that. When I got More Friends, it got more fun for me. I like playing the girl versions obviously since I'm a girl and all that, yeah.
I'm teetering on which of the three girl versions I have is more fun.
More Friends is easier in that there's less you have to do to get married and less to do in general, but you have to work harder and there's very little in-game day time.
DS Cute is fun in that there's so much you can do like collecting, working, and it's so easy to make money you don't even have to grow anything. But it's harder considering you need 60 Sprites to marry, and it takes four in-game years to witness all of the heart events, even for rivals. Except Skye I think, I'm not sure, because I've already gotten 3 of his events within one year...
And Another Wonderful Life is fun with how it's in 3D and the glitch you can perform to get almost every item, gaining way to a really 'wonderful life.' But the game itself is a little clunky with how things work and I think the dialogue is pretty slow, especially if you've already played through the game before.

My sister and I love the series. It started with my sister coming home with Another Wonderful Life, because she thought it looked cute. We were hooked! My sister discovered that glitch where you get tons of money/items, so that was awesome. Sometimes we got really strange things.
And I LOVED Tartan. Oh god, he was too sweet. I'd go visit him everyday and talk to him.
Then we got Magical Melody, which was super cute. We loved that even more, because there was so much variety. I liked that there was more choice in marriage (as I hated the 3 guys in AWL). And, I will admit, I got a major girl crush on Eve. She was the first person I got to 10 hearts (apart from the guy I was chasing). And Meryl was so cute!
Then I went back to basics and plated the first Harvet Moon on my PSP. Loved it! it's really sweet. Simple, but still fun. And major plus, I married Eve!
I tried RuneFactory for a bit, but didn't like it. Same goes for Innocent Life.
The latest one we've bought is Tree of Tranquility. Since I've moved out and my sister's busy with school, neither of us have really gotten into it yet. I'm almost done my first year, going to get married to Gil in a few weeks.
I LOVE how you can own/ride an Ostrich in this game. It's so cute.
I'd love to try Animal Parade after I finish ToT.

This question is bugging me. For all you Harvest Moon players, what is it that makes the game so incredibly addicting? I mean, sure, the planting and the marraige and everything are fun, but they only keep you busy for so long. After a while, it can get boring. So what is it that keeps you hooked?

The most recent Harvest Moon (about last year) I played was Friends of Mineral Town.
I had caught all the legendary fish, maxed up my tools, got all three orbs.
I just havn't bought the cottage.
I'm addicted because it's who I am.
Once I'm started I like to finish it.
But at some point I lose interest and stop playing it XD.
For example, I own an Xbox360, and there is an achievement score (you get points for doing tasks)
I almost got all achievements for Assissins Creed and Gears of War, but I lost interest already...

Ah, I usually keep myself busy with the little extras you can collect in the games, especially in Harvest Moon DS Cute. I've given myself the task of trying as hard as possible to get a Skye card in the trading card type of thing from the Sprite Tree. It's hard to get any specific card on it though, I've probably spent 10,000G just trying to get it, and no sign yet.

There already is a thread for these games I believe, just that it's dead.

I love Harvest Moon, but my sister and I got into late. Our first one was AWL for Gamecube.
So I've played that, MM, the original, Rune Factory, ToT...and another one for hand held that I don't remember.
But yeah, my favourite is MM~ I love Eve ♥
I like ToT because I can ride an ostrich around...I hate horses. ;_;

I've only played the Rune Factory games, but I do plan on playing A Tale of Two Towns once it comes out. The pre-order animal is an alpaca.
But general consensus says that the older Harvest Moons were much better than the newer ones from what I've seen. Of course, it really all comes down to opinion, so I can't say much.
