First off, I am quite surprised I haven't seen anyone else figuring this out, but there is a very easy way to make proper sounding r's and th's
with a japanese vocaloid voicebank. The best part is that It's very easy to do and gives you a lot of control.

Here's is an example of me using this technique with VY1v4:

So there you have it! Happy tuning!

(you can move this to the VOCALOID CAMPUS if it needs to)

I also have one quick question. On the peak do you put an extra note that has a [4] in it or is it just the vowel all the way through?

vowel all the way through, sometimes having a [w] before the vowel can help, but be careful as it can also make the r sound wonkey

how about 'r's in the middle like free?

Apparently the 'free' word at the ending wasn't really much.

You kinda just gotta play around with different hights of the peak and shape and whatnot until you find what works, that was just a WIP though

EDIT: Added another WIP to the opening post

This thread is not only for tuning, but general tips, things you've noticed with certain tuning styles and such for making your vocaloid sound the way you want them to. Tuning is just the word I used for lack of a better word.

I'm actually pretty interested in learning how to do some of those complex vocal runs. I've tried it a couple of times but the notes all blur together a lot instead of sounding defined and separate. Kinda like the way an amateur performance compares to that of a professional pop vocalist. Anyone got any tips apart from basic note-bending?

For Giga-like tuning and fast songs, notebending is preferred. For ballads, pitchbending works best. For rock either is good. In the end, a mix of both creates best results. Fine-tuning with pitch correction software such as melodyne at the end is also good as some Vocaloids go flat or sharp (i.e. SF-A2 miki).

To strengthen Vocaloid's vocals, increase their brightness, even up to 127. Do not do that when dealing with nasal banks like MAYU though as it will emphasize their nasal sound. It is best to decrease BRI a little (-5) and clearness all the way down (-127) for nasal voicebanks such as MAYU, CUL and RUBY. If a voicebank is breathy like GUMI English and Iroha V4 Soft is is best to decrease their breathiness, but I heard that increasing AVANNA's breathiness just a little will give her a rougher edge. Never increase CLE in metallic voicebanks such as flower and kanon, it will make them absolutely ear grating. DAINA sounds especially nice with slightly lower GEN and DEX with higher GEN.

What kind of song Vocaloids should sing heavily depends on their voice type. It is very important to match a voice range of a Vocaloid to a song in order to make them sound best as possible.

He uses Vocal Shifter I think (or maybe Vocalistener, I am not sure). Basically he uses human voices to tune his covers.
