The Vocalistener-tuned samples on the product page were surprisingly nicer than most of the other Vocalis demos I've heard imo. I definitely prefer Azuki because her lower notes sound nice, although Matcha isn't bad (I feel like she might go well with Zunko).

But yeah where tf is VY2's update Yamaha. I'm not usually one to complain about lack of male vocals but come onnn (I want to tell myself they're taking the time to make him great but eh better to not get my hopes up again)

I will agree that their voices sound pretty "generic", but it's a revival nonetheless. I'm still confused on why they choose to make & release V4s of them though...

Also yeah where the fuck is VY2V4 like at first it was kinda funny but come on Yamaha, everyone wants VY2 updated but instead you release two Vocaloids that no one really wanted/cared about smh.

At this point its not really much to talk about if they are "generic" since there are a lot of "generic" vocals thanks to V3... Their previous vocals were done with V2 lite (a version of V2 never to go to sale) so they already are going to be improved with triphones.

They sound a lot nicer than their V2lite version, and it's nice to see people will finally be able to use them legally. I'm also glad that they used the same style for their new artwork, because I always liked the way they looked.

I wasn't originally impressed with their V2s, so I'm glad they both sound much better in V4. Currently leaning towards Azuki's voice more right now, but Matcha's not bad either. Still waiting for VY2V4 though. Will he ever be a thing, or has Yamaha just dropped it with no warning? ;_;

Well... VY2 is a vocal which has had issues since Vocaloid2 with development, and its still got time to sneak out... We're in our 3rd year, and considering a engine version comes out roughly every 4 years, we still have 1 more year if they repeat their habit. VY2v4 basically has 6 months of this year possibly and maybe next year.

Actually its scary to think V5 is prob. coming late next year or the following... *shudders*

But with these two, I'm noting the XSY lack... :-?

Yeah those Vocalistener demos honestly kind of impressed me. I'm also prefering Azuki, I just like her cuter voice better. Posted Image

A friend of mine noticed that Matcha's name was listed as one of the singers in the list back in June. I guess Yamaha was trying to show a tutorial but maybe didn't realize her name showed up or something because the video is deleted by now.

My reaction under the cut:

Spoiler

Out of all the announcements I've seen recently, this is the one that surprised me the most. It's been what, 5 years since we've heard of them???

Actually they were released early 2014 and kept getting promotion a while after, so 2-3 years

Hmm. I really wasn't expecting to see these two ever again, but I do enjoy a good revival. I'm still crossing my fingers we'll see Anri Rune again someday...

Their designs are cute and I like them. I agree that they sound a bit generic, but a lot of the female JPN loids do now so I've just come to expect it. I think they sound cute. Not overly thrilled about them but I don't dislike them.

Rune's been dropped, so is in the same realm with Ring and Lui. Rune was only a private license like Akikoloid... Who may not also get a release since she too has been dropped. Its a nice surprise when these things happen, but honestly don't get your hopes up. Private and canned vocaloids are intended to be different situations.

Project 575 was decently successful and popular so I guess they saw logic to keep the project alive it was best to take things to the next stage and make them commercialized. Unless all along they were just testing the waters to see how things fared before they committed? :-?
