I like the ones Cross posted.
And regarding Big Al, I couldn't feel that it was completely anime, to me it sorta like a mash up that turned out a slight bit awkward.

NO NO and NO. Western public would like to see moar CGi / Comicbook style imo. CGI sounds good I mean, look at Sonika's new boxart it's amazing and much moar appealing than any others.
I'd rather see more like that (but less whorish) than another character with BIG ROUND SCARY eyes.

Spoiler

This is what I wanted to see moar ):

I like this!

I would love to see more of this on Engloids!

Sonika looked amazing with her makeover! I think people were being too whiny about her being "whorish".
グウェンハイバー (gu wen hai baa) or グウェンハイヴァー (gu wen hai vaa) are how my username is spelled in katakana. I prefer グウェンハイヴァー because I just like it as close to the original name as possible.

Its the look not the style mainly.

The Tattoo could have done without...
The ribbon...
The uneeded long bling....

Those 3 things alone could have seen Sonika recieve a lot better reaction.
Youtube poster 1; what does the [/] do?

Youtube poster 2; I'm guessing that it breaks the word in half.

I think she looks cool with those things!

I think she wouldn't look as rad without the ribbons and the bling.

The brassier and sidetail are what did it for me. Those haven't been anywhere near acceptable fashion since the 80s-early 90s. Especially since straight, long hair is the major hairstyle atm. :/

Hiring an artist from Japan may be a good idea (like how Sonika's new boxart is), as not all Japanese artists draw in a very distinct anime/manga way. Someone such as redjuice, whom we all know, doesn't draw that big eyes, and the anatomy is pretty good to me as well.

Oh, and also, they should do more advertisement. Japanese people can be uh....well, obsessive, almost? That's why Vocaloids in Japan aren't that hard to miss. Thing such as merchandise, adverts, things such as that all contribute to make Japanese Vocaloids more popular.

This leads us back to the boxart. With no mascot, Miku wouldn't be as popular as it is today.

Sonika's boxart is by Mario Wibisono, from Indonesia, not Japan. c:

it doesn't need to be a japanese artist in order to be a good artist you know. I don't mind the style as long as it's something GOOD.

Indeed. It irks me whenever I see closed-minded people thinking that anything non moe or non anime (or anime inspired) is automatically bad or inferior. Any artist, no matter what "style" they ascribe to, needs to have the same fundamentals for good craftsmanship.

Okay, I'll give you a hint on the staples... ^_-

...PowerFX base their Vocaloids on monsters.

A honestly, he isn't THAT bad singing wise, his voice is fun to play with, although Tonio's sounds better then Al when used right.

Sweet Ann is another Frankenstein monster (based on "the bride of frankensein", honestly I'd thought that would be obivous after looking at Al, hence the staples around the neck. The Zero-G Vocaloids are professional singers designed with a specific vocal purpose mostly (opera, soul, etc), Leon and Lola are soul vocalists, they are designed for Soul music. Also, another piece of advice; don't insult Vocaloids, even Miku's a touchy one to insult, insults can stur up anger amongst fans and as another note Big Al is the most popular of the Engloids.
