VocaloidOtaku.net Forums - Providing Everything Vocaloid: Mima - Viewing Profile

Greetings from the mod team.

I am making this topic as a reminder. As of May 9th, 2012 (that's almost a year ago!) the minimum age for membership on the VocaloidOtaku forums is fifteen (15) years old. The change was, at the time of inception, not announced, but was effectively introduced to the Forum Rules Thread and the Sign Up page, making it impossible for users to register with a listed age of less than 15. Since this change was enacted, we have explained our reasoning for it as well as minor details involved in several threads across the forum at various times.

Why this thread, then?

Well, it seems to be the case that every couple months or so, problems occur when a small number of new members get caught being below the age limit and subsequently banned. Despite it being listed in the Forum Rules Thread and the Sign Up page, and despite not being able to register with their proper birthdate to begin with, young members claim time and time again to not be aware of the age restriction and argue with us about its' enforcement. Therefore, this thread will be kept visible in order to make this rule very apparent, so as to help combat this problem.

The minimum age on VO is fifteen (15) years old

• The reason for this is twofold; first of all, there is content on this site that we have determined is not quite suitable for younger members, yet we would rather not ban such content altogether. Secondly, this is a maturity cap.
• As this has been mentioned before: We are well aware that young internet-users habitually lie about their ages to join websites. We have no intention of futilely trying to hunt down said members. However, if they mention their true age anywhere on the site, they will be banned as per the rules. We have agreed that if incognito children are not wise enough to keep their personal information secret when they know they will be banned if caught, they are not mature enough to be on this site (or the internet in general, in Mima's personal opinion).
• Members who joined VO prior to May 9th, 2012 have been grandfathered in, and will not have their accounts suspended.

The mod team has had several conversations about this rule over the past year and, despite any off-screen complaints, are currently still in favor of the rule and we would appreciate your compliance with it.
