Sounds like unfortunately you have either an extremely rare bug or what’s slightly more likely a defective disk.

While it might look all ok sometimes during the printing process they don’t burned correctly meaning the data on the disk is corrupt.

It’s really rare but I’ve had a few on the PS2 when the problem was more common. If you bought the game new you should be able to get it replaced with no issues.

Best way to find out would be to find someone that also has the game and try there disk, if it still doesn’t work then its probably a corrupt save file, what means you have to start over again as it’s a rare game bug.

Oh, another thing to try.

Can you do anywhere else yet? Jump around to different worlds a few times so the game keeps saving. That might fix a slightly dodgy save file if it ends up being that.
