I've heard some stuff regarding to EU translations, even though the salary is really high, they expect you to do an excellent work. And almost no mistake is tolerated (simultaneous and consecutive translation). Having at least 3% of mistake in overall translation will result in being placed to blacklist. As for written translations regarding to EU, if it has mistakes, the payment you recieve will be deducted, and I mean a really high amount for that (more than half).

Translation is indeed a job with a high salary, but you need to keep a good profile so there won't be any problems occur. And when it comes to simultaneous and consecutive ones, those have limited hours of job. Let me say it like this: they cannot work for long in a day even though they work as partners. If you ask "What happens if they do?" answer is: temporary paralysis. And not this only it causes brain damage if you push yourself hard and you won't get accepted as a witness in a trial if that happens. Written translation is a mess if you have to complete a 1000 page task in a week. But hey, every job has its own difficulty.

Welp, that concludes my offtopic info.

I'm still waiting for the day Technology advances far enough that we can learn a language simply by ingesting a pill or something.

That day, probably won't be going to a bright one for me or any other people who studies translation-interpretation for any language.

Language unification, advanced translation software/machine or similar technological stuff does translation/interpretation, or a technology helps people to learn any language instantly will make us translators go bankrupt in a second, thats for sure.

It's true Turkish and Korean grammars are very similar to Japanese grammar, but the vocabularies are totally distinct.

Well, as far as I can tell, Japanese, Korean and Turkish has the same structure, as in being agglunative. Adding suffixes at the end of the word.

A short example would be like: göz: eye, göz-lük: glasses (and this word can change by 2 more suffixes)

I've been to Japan about half-a-dozen times, probably spent 3 months there in total. Been from Sapporo down to Okinawa and all in-between. And I can tell you that...

Almost no one knows English very well.

Similar experience, I've been in Japan for a small week. I wanted to see if I can manage stuff with English. I guess there was a gap between me and the person I talked. So yeah, concluded that next time when I travel to Japan, I'll be prepared.
